For additional security, the LifePod has dual side compression latches and an inner rubber gasket that together create a watertight seal, making the case water-resistant, airtight, dustproof, and buoyant. It can operate without a battery, functioning effectively as a waterproof case. When powered by a 9V alkaline battery (not included), it can last up to a year under normal conditions. In case the battery dies, an integrated micro-USB port, concealed by a rubber cover, can power the unit. Additionally, the LifePod features a unique key lock mechanism inside that can be enabled to disable the front keyway, preventing it from being picked open.
